Therefore, technology such as my computer, makes schoolwork easier. Much easier. I can check my assignments online. I can email my teachers via our school email addresses. I can use the research databases to write a paper. I can use noodletools.com to create an extremely exact bibliography. In other words, I am "dependent" on technology--I need it to be successful. Yes, I could go without it, but typing papers and checking updates for senior activities and other memos would be more difficult and laborious.
Likewise, my phone enables me to contact my friends and parents 24/7. I can call or text the about homework assignments (and they can proceed to send me notes through email!) I would say that I use my phone in this fashion: 2/3 school, 1/3 social. The computer is about 1/2 school, 1/2 social.
While both aide my school endeavors, they also provide distractions. Facebook and youtube frequently call my attention away from homework and studying. Similarly, sometimes texting disrupts me when I am reading an assignment.
Technology is "una arma de doble filo" as we use to say in AP Spanish. It is both good and bad. However, its positive effects outweigh its negative effects.
